Get to know the team - Laura

1. How long have you been practicing and teaching yoga?

I've been practicing yoga on and off for the last 10 years but have had a more consistent practice for the last 6 years and have been teaching yoga for 4 1/2 years.

2. Favourite pose and why?

My fav pose is lizard with the twist/quad stretch variation- I'm pretty active and my quads and hip flexors tend to get tight, that pose is always juicy for me!

3. What phrase / alignment cue can students expect to hear from you in your class?

"Check in with your breath"- breath is such an important part of the practice and it can be easy to get so caught up in the physical postures and drop the breath, we all need a little reminder sometimes.

4. Where will we find you off the mat?

If I'm not yoga-ing you'll probably find me doing something active- surfing, swimming, running, or training. I love to buy and make healthy food so I'm often at the markets, in the kitchen, or eating!! When I want to relax I'll read in bed or outside somewhere.

5. How old is the oldest pair of yoga pants in your wardrobe?

I have one pair that I think is about 10 years old from Lululemon. Still going strong except for a tiny hole in the bum- don't worry I won't wear them when I'm teaching!

6. What are 3 things left to do on your bucket list?

Everything on my bucket list is a destination I want to travel to. I love travelling so much- right now I'm really keen to go to India, back to Europe (Italy, Greek Islands, & Turkey) as well as do the W-Trek in Patagonia.

7. What makes you laugh?

I've gotten pretty good at laughing about most things, especially myself. People make me laugh (not laughing at them) but when you know someone so well and you know all their little 'things' and they do or say something and you just laugh about it together. Also relatable memes (admit it you've seen some funny ones too).

8. What song do you love to dance too?

I will literally dance to anything! I love a good boogie, doesn't matter the tune!!

9. What was your favourite childhood TV show?

I didn't watch that much TV when I was younger I was more into movies. I remember being obsessed with Aladdin and Lion King.

10. If you had one super power which would you choose?

It's so hard to pick one but I think it would have to be the ability to fly. Obviously to get to travel for free but also think of how many amazing places you could find with a bird's eye view!

11. What did you eat for breakfast?

Salmon with quinoa, kale, broccoli & sprouts
