Get to know the team - Rachael

  • How long have you practicing yoga. I have been practicing yoga for 8 years and in 2014 I did my teacher training with James, Izzy and Jennica.
  • Your favourite pose and why? Tree pose, not sure exactly why but I always enjoy it in class.      
  • What alignment cue/s has helped you in your practice? The best alignment cue for me recently was in Acacia’s class for side crow. Normally this is a pose when offered I am like yeah right that will never happen. But Acacia gave a simple cue ‘squeeze your inner thighs to make yourself light’ I thought ok I might try this and decided to give it ago. I was squeezing my thighs so hard that I was actually able to get into the pose. I was like can anyone else see me right now – It was such an awesome feeling to finally get into the pose. For the next week I was literally doing the pose for anyone who wanted to see it.
  • Where will we find you off the mat? At the park with Eddie (my littel boy), or somewhere with Eddie on a play date with our friends and definitely at Pure in Manly  
  • How old is the oldest pair of yoga pants in your wardrobe? 4 - 5 years I think
  • What are 3 things left to do on your bucket list? Further my studies in natural health, Travel Europe with my family and I would love to live and work overseas
  • What makes you laugh? Eddie’s cheekiness, Frasier the TV show and when I’m in stressful situations I get nervous and start laughing (highly annoying to those around me lol)
  • What song do you love to dance too? Guns and Roses Sweet Child O’Mine – but more I love to sing it.
  • What was your favourite childhood TV show/movie? Top Gun 
  • What did you eat for breakfast?  Avocado on toast that Eddie just ate half of.
